CBSE Class 12 Updated Exam Pattern 2023-24

The Central Board of Secondary Education has released the CBSE Class 12 revised Exam Pattern 2023-24 in accordance with the National Education Policy, 2020. Following are the details of the same:

According to the revised exam pattern for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam for the annual year 2023-24, CBSE will will increase the number of competency based questions in Class 12 board exams 2024. Theory exams have a weightage of 80 marks while the practical exams have a weightage of 20 marks for some subjects and 70 marks for theory and 30 for practicals for others.Here are some changes introduced by the CBSE authorities for CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2024:

  • 20% of the questions will be MCQ-based questions for CBSE Class 12 board exams 2024
  • 40% of the questions will be competency-based questions which will include MCQs, source-based and case-study based questions.
  • 40% of the questions will constitute short and long answer-type questions in CBSE Class 12 board exams 2024.
  • Passing marks for each subject and an aggregate of all subjects for the overall exam is 33%.
  • The total duration for all the exams will be 3 hours (180 minutes).
